A Day in the Life of a Lady Geek: Adventures at Joshua Tree

Nov 10, 2016

A couple weekends ago, I visited Joshua Tree with my love and some friends. It was such a magical experience, and I wanted to share some of my trip with you all! I only took a handful of photos with my phone, but the desert is so gorgeous that I figure you guys will forgive me=P

We didn't get to the park until a little after six p.m. We spent a while driving through and admiring all of the pretty colors and plant-life there, but these cacti were our favorites. These little guys are called cholas, and they look fluffy but I promise you, they're not.

The sunset blew us all away! So many colors and the sky looked so lovely as the backdrop for the desert.

The second day was for my hubby to geek out. He majored in Archaeology, so the museum collection tour of the archaeological artifacts found in the park was right up his alley. I didn't get a picture of any of that stuff (because old clay pots, while super cool, are just not my favorite thing), but Gary had such a good time!

On our last day there, we went on a tour of the rock art in Coyote Hole, a canyon just outside of the protected national park. This is a super low-quality photo, but how cool are those petroglyphs? Or are they pictographs? Not going to lie, I wasn't paying much attention on the hike but man, it was a lot of fun!

We were all decked out in our hiking gear, even though the hike ended up being really mellow. We had so much fun that we decided to go camping at least once a month from now on, yay!

I ended up discovering that my phone can create gifs, which is crazy cool! Definitely something I'll be taking advantage of from now on. I had way too much fun creating gifs of our camp fire. The guys were so proud of this thing, it was adorable.

Over to you!

Have you been on any fun trips or visited any national parks recently? Tell me about it in the comments below!
