Wow, I can't believe it's New Year's Eve already! I'm loving all the New Year's Resolution posts and I really wanted to join in on the fun:) I learned a lot about myself this year, both personally and professionally, but I can definitely say that I'm ready for 2016. While 2014 was the hardest year of my life, 2015 was not much better. I'm reminded every single day of my baby brother and my anxiety just keeps fluctuating, but it does get a little easier every day.

One super awesome thing about 2015, though, was starting this little blog of mine. Her Geekery officially launched in October but I actually started my blogging venture back in June with Oh Sweet Samsara. I LOVED Oh Sweet Samsara but it was really just a stepping stone while I figured out my writing voice and whether or not blogging would 'stick' for me. It definitely stuck! I absolutely love blogging and I adore the community that I've become a part of. I've said it before and I'll say it again: lady geek bloggers are the best!

I don't have plans for making any drastic changes to my blog in 2016 since it's still so new, but I do want to focus on being true to myself and publishing content that I really care about. I looked into the monetization thing and while I really like the idea and will incorporate affiliate links from time to time, I feel like I'm just not there yet. It'll happen eventually, but for now I just want to focus on making my blog amazing! Here are my blogging goals for next year:

+Focus on creating great content while posting more consistently. I'd like to get at least three posts up per week!
+Speaking of posting more often, I'd like to spend more time during the weekend writing posts to publish throughout the week.
+Learn about SEO optimization and incorporate it into my new and old posts. I mean, SEO is important, right? :P
+Get a grip on my social media skills! I'd like to organize my various social posts and give them more of a consistent feel.
+And on that note, I need to create a Facebook page for my blog!

See? No major changes in mind, though I do flip back and forth between possibly moving to self-hosted WordPress or sticking with Blogger. I'm thinking more and more that I'd rather wait until my brand is a little bigger before making that switch. Lots of little things going on though, especially in regards to expanding my brand and creating awesome content for my readers!

My blog is definitely my biggest hobby now, but there are still a lot of personal things that I want to focus on. My anxiety has been a super suckfest, and while the medication helps, I know that making some lifestyle changes would be really good for me. Here are some of my personal goals for 2016:

+Use my gym membership! My husband and I bought gym memberships a couple months back and have only actually gone to the gym a few times. I know this one is pretty stereotypical, but I want to focus on getting healthy.
+Remodel the house! Gary and I are living with my mother-in-law in the house that he grew up in. It's a little outdated and we've slowly been cleaning out the clutter that's accumulated over the past couple decades and making changes. I have a lot of fun plans for our home and I'm hoping to share them with you all as they become a reality!
+Finish the book that I started during NaNoWriMo (eeek!)
+Become more active on Goodreads and read at least 50 books<3
+Attend a Geek Girl Brunch. I'm pretty shy when it comes to meeting new people, especially in group settings...but I do think I'd have a lot of fun!
+Learn how to cook. I mean seriously, I'm a grown-ass lady, I could cook a meal at least once a week or so right? My uncle got us a vegetarian cookbook for Christmas all about easy crockpot meals and I figure that'd be a good first step.
+Work on (and maybe finish?) my A.S. degree in Computer Information Systems.

Woohoo! I've got a busy year ahead of me! Having a full-time job and trying to maintain a blog is hard enough, add to that the whole trying to get in shape and get my life together thing...yowza. I'm going to have a lot of fun though, and I hope to bring you all along with me!

Anyway, I truly am so thankful for you all, my lovely readers and friends. You've made me feel accepted after feeling like an outcast for most of my life, and I can't wait to work my butt off making you all feel the same way! Reading your blogs and interacting with you guys is one of the things I look forward to most every day, and I plan on devoting all kinds of time catching up on your posts this weekend. Happy New Year, ladies! Let's make 2016 amazing!!
